The challenge
Cipla wanted to complete work on Unit 3, built about 2 to 3 years earlier, before a US FDA audit. The existing paint lacked the elastomeric and waterproofing properties needed. Cipla wanted a coating that protects against carbonation and leaks and still looks like a normal decorative paint. The scope grew to include crack sealing, joint sealing and terrace waterproofing.
The DCP solution
For the walls, DCP proposed Aquaguard, a single component acrylic elastomeric waterproof coating that also gives a decorative finish, in antique white and sandstone. Flexseal PU440, a single component elastomeric polyurethane sealant, sealed the window joints. Flexseal GA700, a single component, UV resistant, elastomeric acrylic putty, sealed exterior cracks before coating. White Aquaguard with an embedded geotextile mesh waterproofed the terrace.
DCP products used
How it was applied
- Seal exterior cracks with Flexseal GA700.
- Seal window joints with Flexseal PU440.
- Coat the walls with Aquaguard in antique white and sandstone.
- On the terrace, apply a first coat of white Aquaguard as primer, embed a geotextile mesh, then apply a second coat to a total thickness of 1.5 mm.
