The challenge

Cognizant, an IT, consulting and business process outsourcing company, expanded its operations to Cochin. The building needed different concrete grades at different stages: M45 for post-tensioned slabs and columns and M30 for piling. The fresh and hardened concrete properties needed for post-tensioned slabs, columns and piles were a challenge for the concrete contractor and the ready mix plant.

The DCP solution

DCP supplied Supaflo PC711 and Supaflo Special, at dosages varied to suit each building stage and the weather, to meet retention and grade requirements. Cempatch HM, Flo-Add 1 and Quickmast 108 were also supplied.

DCP products used

Admixtures Supaflo PC711 High performance concrete admixture based on polycarboxylic polymers for concrete with low water cement ratio Product page: Supaflo PC711
Admixtures Supaflo Special High range water reducing admixture with workability retention properties Product page: Supaflo Special

How it was applied

The DCP technical team ran extensive trials to achieve 90 minutes retention and the target strengths at 7 and 28 days, for each concrete grade and placing condition. Supply ran from 2012 to 2014.

The result

The customer was satisfied with DCP's service and with the performance of the products, which met the intended requirements.
